Everything you need for a productive layover — from quick connections to overnight stays.
Layover by Duration
Guides tailored to how much time you have.
4-Hour Layover
With 4 hours at Los Mochis International Airport (LMM), it’s best to stay relatively close. After clearing formalities, take a taxi (about 20–25 minutes) into town and focus on one area. Stroll around the central zone near the Catedral de Nuestra Señora del Rosario and the main plaza to get a feel for the city, then stop for coffee or a light meal at a café along Blvd. Rosales or in Plaza Paseo Los Mochis. If you prefer to stay near the airport, remain landside, relax at a restaurant, and use airport Wi‑Fi; build in at least 90 minutes to return through security and reach your gate.
8-Hour Layover
An 8‑hour layover lets you see a bit of Los Mochis. After arriving, take a taxi into town and head to Parque Sinaloa (Jardín Botánico Benjamin Francis Johnston), the city’s lush botanical garden and park—ideal for walking shaded paths and seeing local flora. From there, continue to the nearby central area for a look at the Catedral de Nuestra Señora del Rosario and the main square. Have lunch at a seafood restaurant such as El Farallón or El Maviri (in town) to sample fresh Sinaloan mariscos. If time and daylight allow, consider a quick ride toward Topolobampo Bay for sea views before returning. Plan to be on your way back to LMM at least 2 hours before departure.
Overnight Layover
With 24 hours, you can experience Los Mochis and its coastal surroundings. Day 1: After landing, check into a hotel along Blvd. Rosales or near Paseo Los Mochis for easy access. Visit Parque Sinaloa (Jardín Botánico Benjamin Francis Johnston) for a relaxed walk, then explore downtown around the Catedral de Nuestra Señora del Rosario and the main plaza. In the afternoon, head to Topolobampo (about 25–30 minutes by taxi) to enjoy the bayfront promenade and optional boat tours on Bahía de Topolobampo. Time permitting, continue to Playa El Maviri for sunset on the beach and dinner at one of the palapa‑style seafood restaurants. Day 2: Have breakfast in town, perhaps at a café near Paseo Los Mochis, then browse local shops or the Mercado Independencia for regional products before returning to the airport. Always confirm taxi times and allow at least 2 hours to get back, check in, and clear security.
