Layover in Mogilev
Everything you need for a productive layover — from quick connections to overnight stays.
Layover by Duration
Guides tailored to how much time you have.
4-Hour Layover
Mogilev Airport (MVQ) is small and located about 20–25 minutes by taxi from central Mogilev, so a 4‑hour layover is tight. Stay airside/near the terminal: relax in the waiting area, grab a snack if the café is open, and use the time to change money or arrange onward transport. If your schedule and immigration rules allow you to exit, you could take a pre‑booked taxi to the nearby outskirts for a brief drive around, but you won’t have enough buffer to meaningfully explore the city. Prioritize being back at the airport at least 1.5–2 hours before your next flight.
8-Hour Layover
With around 8 hours, you can see a bit of Mogilev. After clearing formalities, take a taxi from MVQ to the city center (Ploshcha Slavy area). Start at Ploshcha Slavy (Victory Square) to see the central square and nearby Holy Cross Cathedral. Walk along Leninskaya Street, a main pedestrian artery with shops and cafés, and continue toward the Mogilev City Hall and the Town Hall Square area. If time permits, visit the St. Stanislaus Church (Cathedral of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary and St. Stanislaus) for its baroque architecture. Have a meal at a central restaurant serving Belarusian and Eastern European dishes, then head back to the airport, allowing at least 40–50 minutes for the taxi ride and security.
Overnight Layover
A 24‑hour layover lets you experience Mogilev more fully. After arriving at MVQ, head by taxi to the city and check into a centrally located hotel near Leninskaya Street or Ploshcha Slavy. Spend your first afternoon exploring the historic core: Mogilev City Hall and Town Hall Square, the Holy Cross Cathedral, and the Cathedral of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary and St. Stanislaus. Stroll along Leninskaya Street for cafés and shops. In the evening, walk to the Mogilev Drama Theatre or the Mogilev Regional Philharmonic for a performance if available. The next morning, visit the Memorial Complex “Buinichi Field” on the outskirts to learn about World War II history, then return to the center for lunch and a final walk along the Dnieper River embankment before heading back to MVQ. Always confirm visa requirements and flight times in advance.
